Before you start
- A Miton development build and an active project.
- A connected cloud or local model, plus any credentials or local runtime required by this task.
Steps
- Click the gear icon in the status bar or the sidebar to open Settings.
- Select the “Models” section from the settings sidebar.
- Click “Add Custom Model” or choose a provider from the list (such as Ollama, OpenRouter, or OpenAI).
- Enter the model ID name and select the correct provider type.
- Save the configuration.
What success looks like
The model will appear in your roster bar at the bottom of the screen, indicating it is now ready for selection.
Common failures and recovery
- Model not appearing: Double-check that the model name exactly matches the provider’s
identifier (e.g.
llama3.1orgpt-4o). - Connection errors: Make sure the local provider service is active, or that you have configured a valid connection endpoint.
